It’s probably right anyway. Definitely more so than the “original” one, debunked here.

Aarrghhhh. Although I wasn’t over 40 in 1986, the 90% chance of getting married statistic is probably even more frightening than the (non existent) 10% chance of being killed by a terrorist. Not in this neck of the woods though.

Well at least they apologised, which I suspect is more than the Grauniad will do.

Isn’t it nice of them? First they traumatize a generation of women by peddling the lie that it’s their fault if they never find a man because they dared demand they were treated as human beings and then, 20 years later, they apologize.

    Thoughtful.

How many people do you reckon have made careers out of this gibberish?

It seems nearly impossible to get a conviction here in the States, too. In fact, most cases never even make it to court.

Are there any countries with a high conviction rate?

I think theocracies like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have high conviction rates. Rape is punishable by death. Oh, wait. That’s death of the VICTIM, who is blamed for shaming the freakin’ family.

Polly, honestly, are you trying to suggest that we don’t declare war on the Middle East to save the women and children from nasty men/dictators and to bring peace and democracy and human rights and stuff?
